President Xuan Fuzhen Meets with President Bob Cryan of the University of Huddersfield

Led by President Bob Cryan, a delegation of the University of Huddersfield, the British partner of ECUST’s Confucius Institute, paid a visit to ECUST on December 5th, 2024. ECUST President Xuan Fuzhen met with the British guests.

After he warmly welcomed President Bob Cryan and his delegation, President Xuan reviewed the practical cooperation between the two universities in the Confucius Institute and the JMD international joint degree program. He noted that since the signing of the agreement to jointly establish the world’s first Science and Technology Innovation Confucius Institute, both universities have expanded their cultural exchanges and deepened their scientific innovation , making significant contributions to promoting China-UK educational cooperation and exchanges. He hopes that both sides will take the fifth anniversary of the Confucius Institute as a new starting point, fully leverage their academic and professional strengths, and continuously move towards a new pattern of high-level, broad-field cooperation and exchanges.

President Bob Cryan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of ECUST. He pointed out that the Confucius Institute, as an important achievement of the cooperation between the two universities, has promoted exchanges and interactions among outstanding young scholars from both sides and made significant contributions to the multicultural development of the University of Huddersfield. He hopes to work hand in hand with ECUST to promote win-win development in education and research and establish a new model of China-UK cooperation.
