Delegation of University of Huddersfield, UK, Visit ECUST
Recently, a British delegation, headed by Alistair Cimber, Vice President of the University of Huddersfield, UK,paid a visit to ECUST. Yan Haifeng, Vice President of ECUST, met the British guests and presided over the talks. Li Xiaopeng, Dean of the School of International Education, Tang Jimin, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Zhao Wei, Associate Professor of the School of Foreign Languages, were also present at the meeting.
The two universities jointly established the world's first Confucius Institute featuring scientific and technological innovation in the UK in July 2019, which is a milestone for the cooperation between the two universities. Over the past four years, the teachers and students of the two universities have worked hand in hand, cooperated sincerely, overcome many difficulties such as epidemic situation, and made unremitting efforts for the establishment and development of Confucius Institute. In July this year, 18 students from the Confucius Institute at Huddersfield University came to ECUST for the first time to participate in summer trip activities, and deeply experienced the breadth of China culture and the development speed of China. At present, the Confucius Institute has not only become a classroom for Huddersfield teachers and students to understand and learn about Chinese culture, but also an important platform for serving the local community and promoting the communication between the people. The Confucius Institute plans to launch the Huddersfield-ECUST teacher-student exchange funding program next year to further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.
Before the meeting, Alistair Sambell and the delegation visited the university development history room of ECUST and the Ferringa Joint Research Center of Nobel Prize Scientists, learning about the development history of ECUST, advanced scientific research platforms and ECUST achievements.
