German Applied Chemistry Publishes ECUST Research Results on Resource Utilization of Ammonia Nitrogen Pollution

Recently, cooperated with researchers from the University of Arkansas and California Institute of Technology, adopting the water-stable MOF-808 as the matrix, researchers of ECUST carried out the precise multi-site post-modification strategy, and simultaneously realized its immobilization stabilization of bioactive urease, high-capacity ammonium ion adsorption under oxalic acid post-modification and color detection of ammonia molecules under the control of Cu ions, thus transforming urea in urine into ammonia nitrogen in situ and adsorbing and recovering it, forming a modular visual urine resource recovery system. The research article was recently published in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.

The article is co-first authored by Dr. Guo Lei (now an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas) and Dr. Yi Zhang from California Institute of Technology, and co-corresponding authored by Professor Yang Xuejing, Dr. Guo Lei and Academician William Goddard from California Institute of Technology are co-authors, with East China University of Science and Technology as the first academic affiliation. The research project has also received the support from Professor Xiang Yanxun, Professor Wang Hualin, Teacher Zhang Nan, Dr. Li Jianan, Academician Michael Hoffmann, etc.
